SAR Dog handlers and their SAR dogs are tested by I.K.9.S.A.R.S. testers and employees, within the I.K.9.S.A.R.S. guidelines. We test under I.K.9.S.A.R.S. current documented International and National K-9 SAR standards. Standards on file for review upon request.   2). STOPPING THE SEARCH: A search dog handler may stop the search efforts at any time in regards to the SAR dog and SAR handler’s safety, or should another higher priority mission request occur during this search effort. (Lost human child or natural disaster). There are no guarantees that the search and rescue dog team(s) from I.K.9.S.A.R.S. will be successful in locating your missing pet(s). No search dog team will be allowed to trespass on private property with out the property owner’s consent. If the property owner refuses to allow our search team(s) on his/her property, we’ll just go around and start again on the other side of the property.     3). SCENT: There are many factors that affect scent and our ability to perform a successful track to locate a missing pet. Some factors that may hinder the success of the search mission: Time, weather, heat, strong winds, heavy rains, (rain actually helps us detect scent), ice, snow, nicotine from cigarette smoke, heavy contamination of animal, human, and vehicle traffic in the search area.   4). PETS THAT TRAVEL: Most cats stay within a 6-city block area unless they are taken out of the area by vehicle. Most dogs stay within a 6-mile area. All lost pets head INTO the direction of the wind when they hunt. A cat can travel up to 10 miles a day. A dog can travel up to 20 miles per day. If the pet is moving and not stopping and staying in one area, we may not be able to catch up to it. All we’ll be able to do is show you which direction it’s headed. We have actually tracked a lost pet successfully while it rained 2” of rain in one day. We’ve also tracked a dog 14 miles and found it alive.   5). FALSE SCENT TRAILS: If the family members of the missing pet have been out walking around, or driving around, they now have contaminated the search area with what's called a "FALSE SCENT TRAIL". We deal with this every single day in every single search. This can make it harder for the search dog to detect the most recent traveled path of the missing pet. This is caused by the pet owner carrying their pet’s scent on the bottom of their feet from their home, vehicle, etc. and leaving a fresher scent trail for the search dog to follow. If your pet is later found dead or alive in the original search area, I.K.9.S.A.R.S. will not be held responsible for NOT FINDING YOUR PET.   6). PETS FOUND IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION: It’s not uncommon for person(s) who find and take possession of your pet to hang on to it for a period of time, only to have the pet later escape or be let go in a completely different area. This can affect the location of where the pet was tracked.   7). Example: a professional search dog team tracks your pet to one specific area. Then later the pet is found in a different location, the tracking team is NOT at fault in any way for the pet ending up in the location where it is later found. This has absolutely no affect on the search dog teams credibility or ability to track. Pets escape their captors while exercising or the person who finds the pet may take it to a church, park, or other area and let it go. All these factors affect the outcome of where the pet may end up and has no bearing on the original track by the search dog team. If you performed a pee trail, your pet may get loose from the person(s) who have them and follow the trail in the direction you leave it. Someone may find your pet along the pee trail route or in a different area then where we tracked if your pet is trying to find its way home from who ever picked it up.         8). RESPONSIBILITY: We are responsible only for our employees. I.K.9.S.A.R.S. Employer and employees will not be responsible for anyone involved in this private search effort other than our own employees. Because there are numerous dangers involved in search and rescue efforts, I.K.9.S.A.R.S. Will not be held responsible for the safety of the pet owner(s) or their representatives should they be hurt or killed during our search efforts. The pet owner(s) and or their representatives may participate in our private search efforts, but do so, "at their own risk". If the family chooses to utilize untrained civilians for their private search efforts, I.K.9.S.A.R.S. Members will not be responsible for these persons, or their actions. Their search efforts will not reflect upon I.K.9.S.A.R.S. Search efforts. Each will be independent of one another.   9). DOCUMENTATION: All of our findings may be released to the missing pet owners and to any and all authorized Law Enforcement agencies that may be involved with this matter. All written reports, maps, documentation, photographs, audio, video tapes generated by I.K.9.S.A.R.S. Employees will remain the property of I.K.9.S.A.R.S. The missing pet owners may be furnished with a complete copy of our reports, diagrams, and findings, as soon as we have completed our efforts. Photos, diagrams, and a brief summary on the case, may be posted on our web site.   10). SEARCH FEES: Time involved in Search & Rescue operations to include: Logistics, planning, report writing, field and base operations, debriefing, meetings, testifying in court cases regarding this search and consulting. Cost for the initial search is $200.00 for the first hour. After the first hour the cost is then $50.00 dollars per fifteen minutes. Search time starts from the time I.K.9.S.A.R.S. Starts working on the case and runs until the search & rescue efforts are completed, and all reports are completed and filed. (A One-hour search will cost $200.00 dollars. If we perform consulting work prior to the physical search, you will be charged for the consulting work as well. This does not include the travel and other expenses). Most pet searches last 1 hour or less.   11). ROUND TRIP TRAVEL COSTS: $25.00 per hour travel time is charged each way for standby and travel time while traveling to and from a search. In addition, all logistical and planning expenses which may include: Motel, lodging, transportation, specialized insurance for handler and dog, fuel, meals, telephone, fax, e-mail, photocopies, postage, specialized equipment rentals, health certificates for the search dogs, any and all other expenses regarding the responding, working and return from the search & rescue efforts, to include any replacement of damaged equipment. (This occurs for long distance – out of state, and out of country search missions).   12). The I.K.9.S.A.R.S. team agrees not to exceed _____ Hours, and __________ in search service. Not including travel and standby expenses. If you wish the search to continue over 1 hour work amount, you must give us verbal or written consent to before or during the search to, "continue our search efforts", and this will increase the amount owed.   13). DEPOSITS: If you send us a signed agreement for services and we have to travel more then four hours each way to the search area, we will require a deposit via credit card on our Pay pal account at www.k9sardog.com main page. Click on the PAYMENT button on our main page. Then scroll down to the bottom and click on our credit card icon where is says “Searches cost money”, and make the required deposit. Once we've received notification by Pay pal that the deposit has been made, we'll respond. If you cancel the search request while we are in route to your location, we will charge you for the driving time, fuel, meals, motel(s), travel expenses, and work time performed to respond. Any amount owed you will be refunded immediately upon our return to our office in Longview, Washington. With this search request we would need a deposit to Pay pal of $______________. dollars US. (.0459%) will be added for all Credit card payments to the final billing. Note: If no amount is listed when we send the contract, then no deposit will be required.   14): CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: We can also accept a credit card payment in person if additional payment(s) are to be made. WE accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. This is done in person through our INTUIT account. We must be able to log in online with our smart phone to perform this service. The credit card company charges .0459% of the total fee. We will pass this fee onto your total billing.   15). Payment is expected immediately upon completion of the K-9 search efforts. A debriefing will take place and payment is expected at this time. A receipt will be issued for all money received. Failure to make this payment immediately after we’ve completed our search efforts, will cause I.K.9.S.A.R.S. to file for a judgment in a court of law against the requesting person(s) and or his / her representatives. Several clients over the years have stole from our services. We’ve traveled to other states, found their missing loved one, then the clients failed to make any payments as per the contract. NOTE: If you try to steal from my company, I will be forced to enforce this contract and go after you in the courts of law. I will prosecute you for “theft of services”. I will also file CIVIL charges against you to collect on all search costs. The judgment will be sought for all legal fees, filing fees, attorney fees, and court costs, travel cost, to and from the court to file said forms, testify, and attempt to collect on the debt owed in the contract. Time involved in filing, testifying, travel, attempting to collect the outstanding debt, will be added to the original outstanding debt, and will be documented at $200.00 per hour plus all travel and standby time and costs. Standby time is $25.00 per hour each way. I will also post publicly that you have stolen from our services. If you’re honest and 99% of our clients are, then you have nothing to worry about. On the date the search is completed, payment is expected. For every 10 days after the search has been completed by I.K.9.S.A.R.S, if the payment has not been made in full, an increase of 10% of the total amount owed will be added to the amount owed. This will continue until the amount is paid in full.   16). WE ONLY ACCEPT CASH or Credit Card Payments in U.S. CURRENCY.  Because of the economy and because we’ve received so many NSF checks over the years, we can no longer accept personal or business checks, money orders, or cashiers checks. Please have the cash and or the credit card payment ready when we complete the search efforts. (Note) If you pay by credit card you may do so by going to our www.k9sardog.com web site and click on the Pay pal account credit card emblem. Where it says “Searches Cost Money” make a donation. This is where you make your payment. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr  or through our Intuit account. If the payment on the credit card is stopped or declined for any reason, you will be in direct violation of this contract and will be responsible for the debt and all legal action against you that will follow.   17). We may at times give out, or list, your name, address, telephone number, and the mission report information to the police for legal documentation, that a search of this type has been conducted, and the results of the search.   18). CANCELLATIONS: If we are placed on standby and are requested to travel to a specific search area, and while doing so, if we are canceled while on standby or on route, the requesting person(s) are responsible for paying the travel time and standby time already accumulated before cancellation (if we are driving) and, or, the logistical and planning and prep time in getting ready for said mission. International K9 Search and Rescue Services Office of Emergency Management PO Box# 1472 Longview, Washington 98632 Office: 360-414-8093 Mobile: 503-705-0258 Email; searchdog@iinet.com   web: www.k9ardog.com   How a Pet Search is conducted.   Please read before the search effort. You’ve contracted I.K.9.S.A.R.S. team(s) to conduct a private search with their search dog handler(s) and search dog(s). Here’s what to expect.   Once you’ve contacted I.K.9.S.A.R.S. for assistance in determining what happened to your missing pet and where it happened, the SAR (Search and Rescue) Coordinator will send you a contract for services agreement which you must complete online and return via email.   In searches that are more then three hours away from our office in Longview, Washington a deposit may be required. This will be indicated on the contract. Once the deposit has been made, we will respond as soon as possible.   Higher priority search calls such as disasters and missing children or adults with medical concerns may place you on standby list. We average 2 calls a day around the world. We will perform your search as soon as possible. We can cancel your search and redirect our teams to a higher priority search at any time. This rarely happens.   Once our team(s) arrives on scene, we will make contact with you (the client). We will access the danger and threat levels to us the dog handler(s) and our search dogs. Hazards such as (HAZMAT) hazardous materials, broken glass, antifreeze, fertilizers, other dogs, other person(s) that may pose a hazard to us. Once we determine the hazards, we’ll determine the best approach to start our search safely. Note: IF YOU or anyone else SMOKES Cigarettes, We will NOT allow you near our handler’s or search dogs. (Nicotine is a poison and desensitizes our search dog’s noses).   We’ll have you bring the scent item(s) belonging to the missing pet outside of your home. This after you has confirmed that you have searched your own property. See list in our contract at the bottom of the contract.   Once we introduce the scent to the search dog(s), the handler will give his / her dog the work command, “Go Find”. The search dog will try to pick up the LAST STRONGEST SCENT TRAIL and follow it. Heavy contamination of the search area by the pet(s) owner(s) may hamper our search efforts. (See contract for further explanation).   PLEASE NOTE. If the track / search appears to the dog handler(s) like it is going to travel more then ½ mile in the track, the search dog handler may ask you to drive either his / her or your own vehicle, and follow the handler(s) so that a ride may be provided at the end of the search.   By having you or someone else follow our search dog team(s) during the search, this saves hours of walking back to the starting point, and it saves you the cost of paying for the walking time returning back to your home or starting point of the search. THERE IS NO SMOKING of any substance near or inside any of our SAR Vehicles.   There are medical supplies and other SAR equipment stored in our own vehicle. With you or someone else driving behind our team(s) during the search, this keeps the supplies close should we find your pet sick, injured, or one of us in injured during the search efforts. Please follow out of the flow of traffic 1 block behind the dog team. Do not block the flow of traffic for any reason. Always obey all traffic laws, and use extreme caution when pulling out into traffic. You must possess a valid driver’s license to drive our vehicles. Seat belts must be worn at all times. You are never to leave the area where the search dog and handler are working unless you receive permission first. If you do leave without our consent with one of our search vehicle’s, you will be arrested for Theft of a motor vehicle. (Unauthorized use).   Once the search is completed we’ll have you give our SAR dog handler(s), SAR dog(s) a ride back to the starting point.   A debriefing will be held to explain the search, our findings, and how to proceed from this point. If we find your pet, it will be your responsibility to catch it and or recover it. We may or may not assist in this matter depending on the circumstances.   Our dog handler(s) and or you can stop the search efforts at any time during the search.   SAFETY Briefing: During a search we are often faced with dangers. Attacks from vicious aggressive people, pets, and wildlife. If we are attacked, the best thing to do is to get behind the dog handler and their search dog(s). We will use whatever force is necessary and justified to stop the attack including deadly force.   First we’ll try using verbal communication while backing away from the attack. If that fails, we’ll use physical force to protect our search dogs and ourselves. This may include using knives, pepper spray, machete, stun guns, tasers, and hand guns to protect our selves and our search dogs.   NOTE: If the search dog handler is seriously injured or killed during the search it will be your responsibility to take control of the search dog(s), remove them from the search scene immediately inside a motor vehicle. You will immediately transport them to a boarding kennel or vet clinic, where they are to be boarded together and away from all other dogs.   They are to be kept away from all other animals and exposure to cigarette smoke before, during the transport. You will then immediately call the assistance SAR Coordinator and notify this person of the situation and location of the search dogs.
